چکیده
This case report presents the results of a conversion hip arthroplasty after a long lasting Girdlestone situation of 15 years in combination with an extensive shortening of the leg of 7.2 centimeters. An extensive subtrochanteric shortening osteotomy of 3.5 centimeters was necessary to restore leg length and the rotational centre of the hip. Functional outcome was excellent within the long run and a restoration of the independence of the patient was achieved.

Total hip arthroplasty for Crowe IV hip without subtrochanteric shortening osteotomy -a long term follow up study
BACKGROUND Several authors reported encouraging results of total hip arthroplasty (THA) for Crowe IV hips performed using shortening osteotomy. However, few papers have documanted the results of THA for Crowe IV hips without shortening osteotomy. The aim of the present study was to assess the long term-results of cemented THAs for Crowe group IV hips performed without subtrochanteric shortening...

Introduction: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) after proximal femoral fixation is a challenging procedure due to possible hardware-related complications. Case presentation: A 78-year-old female with hip osteoarthritis had a proximal femoral osteotomy fixed using a blade plate in the same femur 41 years ago. A two-step approach was planned. After a challenging...
متن کاملNerve Palsy after Total Hip Arthroplasty without Subtrochanteric Femoral Shortening Osteotomy for a Completely Dislocated Hip Joint
BACKGROUND Neurological injuries are a rare but devastating complication after total hip arthroplasty (THA). The purpose of this study was to retrospectively determine the frequency of nerve palsy after THA without subtrochanteric femoral shortening osteotomy in patients with a completely dislocated hip joint without pseudo-articulation between the femoral head and iliac bone. METHODS Between...

Patients with neglected developmental dysplasia (DDH) face with early osteoarthritis of the hip, limb length inequality and marked disability while total hip reconstruction is the only available choice.DDH has severe morphologic consequences, with distorted bony anatomy and soft tissue contractures around the hip. It is critical to evaluate patients thoroughly before surgery.Anatomic reconstruc...
